A delegattion from MATS participated in a conference between 18th and 21st of June 2008, held in Lisben, Portugal. The conference was attended by 20 B-Schools from all over the world. The event was an excellent opportunity for building networks leading to collaboration in the areas of student and faculty exchange, joint research projects and joint programs.

On the 3rd Weekend of the May, Sandeep Jain & Karthik Moore of Brookefield, Bangalore had Topped in India in terms of sales in Reliance Fresh. Raghuram of Whitefield was appraised for meeting his Sales targets & also for Best dump & shrink management. Matsonians were quick enough to learn & to handle the operations of the Store.

MATS Strategy Summit-2008

The Annual Strategy Meet - 2008 of MATS Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship was held on 30th May 2008 at an NGO facility, Fire Flies. The Agenda of the meeting was to discuss latest contemporary and inter-disciplinary issues in management and their adoption in the syllabus. The meeting also pointed out the measures to improve operational efficiency, management consultancy services, research, industry interface and academic excellence. The discussions were headed by Prof. NVH Krishnan and Prof. Udayachandra, Deans, MATS. The MATS Faculty from all management disciplines made valuable contribution to the discussions.

ARKA EDUSERVE Pvt Ltd is the educational services company incubated by MATS Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (MIME) for 2 students of the 2007-09 batch, Mahaveer and Sharan. The company got incorporated on 22-05-2008.

Speaking to MATS Ink, Sharan said: “Education is the next booming sector. The company has very huge growth prospects, I am very happy that our Chairman, Shri. Chenraj Jain has provided us with a great opportunity to incubate an educational services company.

Right from the day zero the experience has been fantastic. The Learning curve was steep through each day. Interaction with the Chairman, the Deans and Faculty of MATS have added up to a huge amount of learning. I could not have imagined that we would be actually involved with drafting the Memorandum of Association, the Articles, deciding on the company name, define the capital structure, the company structure, relationships with group companies. Mahaveer and me have actually discussed each steps with our CA, with Private Equity Investors, with consultants like KPMG, Ernst and Young and had opportunity to interact with a fellow student from Wharton who was into his internship with a Private Equity Investor from Singapore. In the process we met up with an alumnus of Stanford, who is the Managing Director of a PE firm. We prepared a Business Plan end to end, we have now started the implementation process. We are looking to hunt and induct talent into the company and are setting up the marketing arm and other business units for the company. All this has been a dream come true.”

Mahaveer adds, “We will grow into a 100 crore company in the near future and will go in for an IPO. Our sights are set beyond India, we will be a truly global company.” R. Chenraj Jain, Chairman Jain Group says, “I am confident of Mahaveer and Sharan’s abililty to take the company to commanding heights. I would like them to grow the company and to plough back surplus earned into social projects of the Jain Group like free schools for the underprivileged, scholarships for deserving young people and sports persons.” Prof. Udayachandra, Dean, MATS said “I am confident that ARKA will be one among top few business enterprises in the country in few years, since the company has entered in to a sun rise sector.”
